When you’re computer starts to slow down there are trouble-free modifications you can make to boost the speed of your computer and here are lists of ways you can improve your computer’s performance.
1. Free up hard disk space
Always maintain 15% free space on the hard disk for your computer to run efficiently.
My Computer=>right-click Hard Drive=>Properties.
If the hard drive is almost full remove unwanted application or the application you don’t use frequently.
Windows — Start =>Control Panel=>Add/Remove Programs
Vista and Windows 7— Start =>Control Panel=>Programs=>Programs and Features
Uninstall unwanted applications
Do not remove any program you don’t recognize because it may be vital to the operation of your computer.
2. Run Disk Cleanup
This method can clean up your temporary files that too hundreds of megabytes or sometimes even gigabytes if you are using Windows. It gives you the option of opening a window in which you can select what you want to delete.
My Computer=>right-click Hard Drive=>Properties=> Disk Cleanup [within the General tab].
Check all boxes [except game files and setup files].
Another way to clean and speed up the computer is to run the Windows inbuilt “Disk Cleanup” utility.
Start=>All Programs =>Accessories =>System Tools=>Disk Cleanup.
3. Disk Cleanup tool
A Disk Cleanup tool assists you to remove unused files from your system. It allows your computer to run faster by freeing up much needed hard disk space.
It cleans the following:
Cleans Windows – Recent Documents, Recycle Bin, Temporary files and Log files.
Cleans Registry
Removes temporary Internet files from Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari. Just this one thing can free up a lot of space and get your computer running a lot faster. For example, I bought a drone for under $200 that came with an app that I could place on my laptop that caused it to run soooo slow, but once I removed the extra app, cleaned my registry, the computer worked x20 faster. So it’s worth the trouble.
Cleans Internet history
Deletes downloaded program files, like Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets.
Deletes installed programs or applications that you don’t use.
Deletes system files in Windows 8.
You can use CCleaner for your computer. This is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool.
4.Run Disk Defragmentation
Disk Defragmentation should be done frequently to help speed up the computer. The defrag process connects scattered pieces of files to assist you to access them quickly.
My Computer=>right-click Hard Drive=>Properties=> Tools tab=> Defragment Now
Another way to clean and speed up the computer is to run the Windows inbuilt “Disk Defragmenter ” utility.
Start=>All Programs =>Accessories =>System Tools=>Disk Defragmenter.
5. Install an anti-malware, an anti-virus program and a spyware scanner
Spyware, adware, browser hijackers, malware, virus and dialers are a few of the harmful threats on the Internet lately and it can slow down your computer’s performance.
You can install spyware scanners such as:
